Mr. Peter M. Ballon serves as Managing Director, Global Head of Real Estate Investments at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

Mr. Ballon joined the firm in 2007 and is responsible for its real estate in the Americas which encompasses investments in Canada, the US, Mexico and Brazil. Mr. Ballon served as Vice-President of the Real Estate Investments Department at the firm since 2010.

From 2007 to 2010, he served as the Head Executive of the Real Estate Investments Department at the firm. Before joining CPPIB, Mr. Ballon served as Vice-President of Corporate Development at TrizecHahn Corporation. Previously, he served at Trizec Properties, Inc. He has been a Director of Aliansce Shopping Centers S.A. since October 30, 2013 and served as its President of Board of Directors until July 2018.

Peter is responsible for CPP Investment Board’s real estate investment activities globally. Prior to his current role, Peter led the investment teams for the US and Brazil. Peter is also a member of CPPIB’s Real Estate Investment Committee which has oversight for CPPIB’s global real estate investments. Peter is an active ULI Key Leader and has been a ULI member since joining in 1998.

Peter has over 20 years of commercial real estate experience. Prior to joining CPPIB in 2007, Peter worked with several leading real estate companies including Canderel, Brookfield and TrizecHahn.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
