Professor WU Jiang was awarded the “Academician of the Architecture Academy” of France (L’Academie d’Architecture de France) for his prominent contributions and achievements in planning and environmentally sustainable design, protection of historical cities and architectural heritage sites, and enhancing architectural education. He serves as member of the UIA EduCom representing China and Asia, thus serving as a bridge linking China, Asia and the world on the important and universal topic of architectural education. He founded and chaired the Global University Partnership on Environment and Sustainability (GUPES), which was jointly launched by Tongji University and UNEP in 2012. With nearly 800 member universities, the organization is one of the world’s largest international platforms for sustainable development. He founded the Asian City Forum in 2012 and served as the Chairman. The Forum has been held five times, bringing together city administrators, planners, builders and scholars from 23 Asian cities. According to his contribution, he was elected the Vice-president of Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA). He has also held important academic positions in several international institutions and universities, including IUPEA, IFoU, Sorbonne Université and so on. In China, he has held management positions for long in national and Shanghai’s architecture and urban planning societies or academic institutions, offering significant policy-making consultation for the country and the city’s urban construction, and making great contributions to their academic and industry development in architecture and urban planning.
